Description
And here it is, the second of my Twisted Cast series. For those who missed the last one, "Twisted Cast" refers to the genderbending of the main characters of the numbered Final Fantasy games of the franchise. Here's a link for the others in case you missed them:
Final Fantasy I: Twisted Cast
Now, about the Final Fantasy II: Twisted Cast:
- Female Firion- By far the one who gave me the most trouble and the last one to color, I tried to be as loyal to the original Firion design as I possibly could... Changes include: the armored chestpiece, shorter cape, boots and a skirt instead of a split skirt; among other smaller details. I have been pretty tame when it comes to designs for the twisted female characters (if you pop over to my gallery and check out my Twisted Fantasy 8 folder, you'll soon find out what I'm talking about...)... But I still really like how she turned out and if I were to pick a part of the design I like most, it would be the hair... Even when I'm not too used to making hair accessories, and a bandana of that type to booth, I believe it turned out SO good and cute ^^
- Male Maria- Turning female characters into males brings about a whole set of different problems... It's often harder to figure out a design which doesn't make them look... well, gay... (not that there's anything wrong with that, but if the original characters aren't so, switching their genders shouldn't change that...) If you know or look up Maria's original design, you know I had my work cut out for me on that one... He turned out having a pretty simple design as I tried to keep the feel of the original as well as the original color scheme. I'm really proud of how he turned out, and I LOVE his hair ^^
- Female Gus(Guy)- Going for Gus as his name as I would never call her Girl -_-' ANYways, female Gus was the first one I made the lineart for and, just as for everyone so far, I tried to keep the original feel of the character. Altering the color scheme slightly so I didn't add more color to an already rich color pallet, I actually liked how she turned out. She looks more buff than the remaining characters but I believe I've kept a certain serenity about her... and her hair turned out cool too ^^
- Female Leon- Once again, I LOVE her hair ^^ For Female Leon, my biggest first issue was making a chestpiece that wouldn't be the same as Female Firion's. The last one to be designed and the first one to be painted, I believe I gave her a different feel than of twisted Firion while keeping the feel of the original Leon. It's true, with the shorts she does have more skin visible, but she does have the leg armor plates to make up for them. Though I do love how her hair turned out, I absolutely ADORE her boots! I believe they are some of my best boots EVAH!
In addition to the main cast, Final Fantasy II has 5 guest characters, characters that join the party temporarily and mostly to complete it as Leon is MIA for about half of the game events. I pondered, for a while, to genderbend these characters as well and include them but then I opted not to. Not only are they more than the actual main characters and the image would get too crowded, but also... I got a bit behind on them and didn't want to go more time without publishing.... Hey, I take a ridiculous amount of time actually painting these things, with five more I woulnd't be done before the weekend!!!.... I might still make them later, anyways...
I do not own Final Fantasy II
