I redraw this piece roughly every year to see how I’ve improved. This is my latest iteration of it

The original was made in 2020, but only two of the redraws are on DeviantArt.
2022 piece: Fireflies(New years redraw redraw)
2023 piece: Lantern: A redraw of a redraw of a redraw

Here are my thoughts on this newest version:

Last years’ artwork was really bright. As in, the entire environment(minus the night sky) looked bright as day. I tried to make this version much darker in order to set the mood. Most of my time spent on this piece was actually on the background, as my character style hasn’t changed much and I wanted to make everything fit in. I tried to add different types of plants and more realistic shading to them.
Next redraw, I hope to improve the character’s anatomy(I don’t draw him anytime outside of these redraws), and actually figure out what species to make him instead of a wolf-like creature that isn’t a wolf.

Overall, I’m pretty proud of it, and despite my many struggles making it, my time was spent well.
