Description
I practically tore down my door in my hurry to protect my family. "Minna-san! (Everyone!)""Kyuu-san!" Came a voice from the living room. I bolted in inside and stopped in the doorway connecting the living room with the kitchen.
"Aro… I told you to leave. Why are you here?" I caught sight of Felix and Demetri standing over Michael and Michelle.
Caius growled at me. "What kind of vampire circus are you running here, Kyuu-chan." He grabbed Michael by the collar and lifted him off the floor. "You have an immortal child here…" He ripped Michelle from Michael's arms. "And a vampire crossed with a Child of the Moon." He snarled. "Are you trying to destroy us?"
I stood frozen. "Put them down, Caius." I looked around. "Where are the others?" I took a step forward as a bang emitted from the basement door.
"They were being troublesome…" Aro said cooly. " Don't worry, we'll take care of them later."
'Oh, fuck me. I just had to make that door vampire proof. I am such an idiot.' I cursed myself. "Why are you here?"
"Well, we did originally just want Marcus back, but then we found these two…" Aro said, moving forward and wrapping his arm around my shoulders. I knew instantly that he was reading my mind. I pushed him off of me.
"Now, if you'll just let us have these two and give us our dear Marcus back, we'll leave quite peacefully."
"Okaa-san!" Michelle cried.
Michael clawed at Caius' hand on his collar. "Let me go, you stupid bastard!" He yelled.
"Aisoka… Be quiet…" I hushed him, thinking of hundreds of possibilities.
I stood up straighter. I began walking towards the basement.
"Kyuu-san, don't. We'll just have to kill them all. All we want is Marcus back." Aro warned.
I continued on, knowing exactly what was going to happen.
"You brought this on yourself, Kyuu-chan." I heard Caius say with fake sadness as he snapped his fingers. Felix and Demetri launched themselves at me to tear me apart.
I grabbed them in mid air and threw them back, then whirled back to the door and threw it open. Caius was more than ready and acted before he had completely analyzed the scene. He stuffed Michelle under his arm that was still holding Michael and his lighter appeared in his hand and the moment Felix and Demetri where thrown away from me, felt a wall of fire hit my back.
I screamed, then threw myself against the wall to put myself out.
"What are you doing, Caius!? Stop! STOP!" Aro yelled, smacking Caius' arm, stopping the stream of fire that the lighter gave off.
"OKAA-SAN!" Michael and Michelle screamed together.
"KYUU!" Came a trio of screams from the doorway next to me. Thankfully, Roxy was able to keep a level head. She grabbed the fire extinguisher off the wall and doused me with it.
They all stood in stunned silence as foam dripped off of me and I stood stock still, smoldering. I fell to my knees, skin chipping off me in flakes.
"You fucking piece of SHIT!!" Roxy roared, launching herself at Caius, who stood with wide eyes, backing up and releasing Michelle and Michael. She had shifted halfway through the air, and the extraordinarily large chocolate wolf tackled the pale white vampire down to the ground. Her jaws wrapped around his arm and pulled, the appendage flying off in her rage.
Michael, not willing to be shown up, gave Michelle to Seth, who had been attending me, and threw himself at the fallen vampire, pulling at his hair and scratching and biting every appendage he could.
"MINNA-SAN! MATTE!"
In a comical sense, everything seemed to stop as every person in the room stared at me.
"You all can stop. I am fine."
Roxy whined with Caius' robes in her jaws, her ears drooping. She seemed to say 'Aww, no fair!'
"But, Kyuu-okaa-san!" Michael had a chunk of Caius' white hair in his hands and was pulling his lower lip out in a painful manner.
"But nothing! Let go of him."
Warily, Roxy let go of Caius' robes. Michael let go of his lip and let the white vampire's hair slip through his fingers. Several strands of hair clung to his sleeve and hand, and he slid them into his pocket. A trophy, I suppose.
Caius groaned, standing and groping around for his lost appendage. Aro stood in the corner, appalled at the violence that had occurred in the defense of me. Marcus approached the terrified ancient vampire.
"Aro."
Aro stared at the impassive ex-member of the Volturi, "Yes, Marcus?"
"I am not going to return to Italy. I am… happy… here. The change in diet is not terrible, and the peaceful air is very welcoming. I will not return, and I would suggest you do not bother the people here again, whether or not they cause so-called problems. Now, please, take your leave before I change my mind and go down a more violent alternative."
Aro took a stunned step backwards. "B-But Marcus…"
Marcus' eyes narrowed dangerously. "Leave."
Aro smiled sadly. "Very well, Marcus. Know that you will always have a place back home in Italy."
Marcus remained impassive, turning abruptly away from the Volturi leader and back towards the mixed group. "Home…" He said, looking over his shoulder back at Aro and glaring. "…is not in Volterra."
The chill in the ancient vampire's voice was enough to send even me into a convulsion of shivers, shaking some of the charred skin from my body. I subconsciously slunk closer to Seth and Michelle.
Aro grabbed Caius by the arm and the two, along with Felix and Demetri, finally disappeared from my house.
There was a loud hum of energy and a soft thump as Roxy shifted back to her human form.
"ALRIGHT! NOBODY EFFIN' LOOK!"
I covered Michelle and Michael's eyes as all us adults looked away so the werewolf could dash upstairs and change into another set of clothing. The only unlucky (or lucky, depending on how one looks at the situation) one was Marcus, who had gotten a good look at the voluptuous werewolf's naked form. I laughed at the look on his face and I knew that if he was human, his blush would be tremendous.
"Mar-kun got an eyeful, ne?" I poked the back of his knee.
He just closed his eyes and held his breath.
Roxy came tumbling down the stairs, clad in her oversized jeans and a neon orange, midriff-bearing top. "Alright, your eyes won't burn anymore."
"Thank you, Roxy-chan. I appreciate it."
"Meh, put a sock in it…"
I smiled, knowing exactly what she really meant to say. I smiled up to Seth, who put his arm lovingly and protectively around me as Michelle and Michael ran over to me, chorusing a "'Kaa-san!" and a "Kyuu-okaa-san!" simultaneously. I hugged them tightly to my burned body.
Marcus had a distant smile, most likely remembering Didyme while Roxy made faces at Michael (who responded with faces of his own) and eliciting excited gurgles of laughter from Michelle.
~~~~~*~~~~~
Yes, my long story was finally wrapping up quite nicely, though I knew I still had a long way to go and many things could still go wrong. All things considered, at the moment my life was… happy… Something I never thought I would be able to say.
