Description "Konnichiwa, Clearwater-san." I said, bowing my head lightly as she approached. I would have been more formal, but Michael did not move from my lap.

"It's nice to see you again, Kyuu." Sue smiled nervously. "I almost thought you had kidnapped my son, he hasn't been home in so long."

"Ah, I am sorry." I smiled warmly. "I do not keep him here. He stays here on his own accord." My face turned worrisome. "If this is an inconvenience to you, I can send him home at night…"

"Oh, no, no, no, no." She said, sitting down in the chair Seth led her to. She watched carefully as he sat down next to me. "I wouldn't want to tear him away from the… woman he loves."

I ignored her hesitation. 'I will not make this any harder on her than it has to be.' I smiled once again. I watched patiently as she glanced at Marcus and Roxy. "Where are my manners? Clearwater-san--"

"Please, call me Sue." She smiled again.

"Sue-san." I smiled back. "These are Roxy and Marcus." She looked very nervous as she nodded to Marcus, but completely relieved when she saw Roxy. "They live here with us."

"And who is the little one in your lap?" Sue asked, her eyes narrowing ever-so-slightly. "I was under the impression that this was your first… pregnancy."

"This is my adopted son, Michael. He has been living with Roxy-chan and myself for about twenty years now… I could not imagine life without him." I stroked his hair again, smiling because he had not snapped at her for calling him little, if only because he was not breathing for fear of attacking her.

"I see…" She seemed satisfied with my answer. "So… you are pregnant, aren't you?"

My eyes drifted towards the floor. "Ah, yes, Sue-san… I am…"

"And how has my son been treating you?"

"Like a go--damsel-in-distress!" Roxy interjected, smiling widely. "Kyuu can't do anything without Seth bein' right there to help her! He's like her gigantic shadow; it's really quite cute."

Sue laughed. "Yup, that sounds like an imprinted werewolf!"

Seth blushed. "Mo~m!" He whined. Then he smiled as I leaned against him and he put his arm around my shoulder.

"Would you like something to drink?" Roxy asked, standing and stretching a little.

"Just some water, thanks." Sue replied, sitting up straighter in her chair. Roxy nodded and walked into the kitchen.

"How have you been eating, Seth?" Sue looked at her son. "You've never been a very good cook…"

"Kyuu cooks." He replied, as if that was the most obvious thing in the world.

"You do?" She asked, bemused.

"Ah, y-yes…"

"How do you know how it tastes?"

"I have Roxy-chan or Seth-kun taste it." I smiled at her. "I always know he likes it because he sighs and say 'Just like mom makes.'"

"Does he now?" She cocked an eyebrow. "Seth always said my food tasted like crap."

"I think that no matter who you are… or how old you are… or what gender you are… having your mother's food - no matter how it may taste - is the most comforting thing in the world…" I began rubbing circles with my hand on Michael's back. "And if he eats my food, saying it tastes just like his mother's… well… I think I must be doing something right…"

"Well said!" Roxy said as she came back in, handing Sue a crystal glass of water then sitting back down next to Marcus on the sofa.

I smelled the alcohol as she passed by. 'She must be more nervous about this than she lets on if she needed to have a drink… But why would she be nervous? Her love-life is not on the line here…'

"And Seth? How has Kyuu been treating you?" I looked down at Michael, waiting to hear Seth's answer, then started when Seth began rubbing my belly with his warm hand.

"Very well, as you can see." He said with a perfectly straight face.

His mother was not so graceful and her face turned bright red. I gripped Michael's shirt lightly as he tensed from her scent. Roxy moved to sit in Marcus' lap for the same reason.

"Y-Yes, I do see. I see it very well… Kyuu, are you alright?" Sue asked, looking like she was ready to spring out of her seat as my face contorted a bit.

"Yes, I am… fine…" I extended my stomach and my face went back to normal. "As you might have guessed, as my body is very hard, it does not stretch very well. I have to physically extend my belly to give them baby room to grow." Sue's face looked slightly confused so I quickly explained. "You see, my… vampire ability allows me to shape-shift - right down to my molecular structure and even my scent - which is really the only reason I was able to become pregnant. To prevent myself from biting Seth-kun while we had… intercourse, I changed into a human - which is no easy task - and thus had working ovaries. And now, because of the pregnancy, every time the baby grows a certain amount, I have to alter my body so it will fit."

Sue looked satisfied with my answer. "Do they all help you around the house?" She glanced at everyone else in turn.

"Of course we do," Roxy said, smirking at me. I knew what she was really thinking, something along the lines of "Of course we do, we don't want to have to deal with that crazy bitch." But to appease Sue, she continued with "none of us want the baby to get hurt, so we try to keep Kyuu as relaxed as possible. Like I said, Seth sticks to her like a fat kid to his candy, but I think Michael helps her out the most. That kid would take a bullet for Kyuu if push came to shove." She paused, then continued. "Any of us would." She smirked, then stood again. "Well, I gotta get going. You guys know how work is. Play nice, everyone!" She pranced out the door.

'Roxy-chan is being… very polite today… Is something bothering her?' I watched her curiously as she left. Marcus left his seat to sit next to Michael. I knew immediately that it was because Roxy had been the wall between him and Sue and with her gone…

Sue seemed to come to this conclusion as well. "I need to be getting back, too. I promised Sam and Jacob that I'd keep them updated. And Leah'll probably want to know how her brother's doing." She stood up from her chair and walked over Seth to give him a farewell hug. Seth gripped Michael's shirt with one hand, to keep him from springing as I gripped Marcus for the same reason, and hugged his mother with the other. Sue then turned to me and gave me a hug as well.

"If you have… any problems… Give me a call and I'll… I'll come over to help, alright?" She said hesitantly as she gripped me tightly.

"Of course, Sue-san." I smiled when she released me.  "You have raised two lovely children. Who better to take advice from?"

Sue smiled. "Flattery gets you nowhere…" She teased. "But thank you, though." She stared at my stomach for moment before turning and leaving. "Come down for a visit soon, Seth, everyone misses you." She called as she walked out the door. The two other vampires in the room each took a deep breath and finally relaxed.

"Mar-kun?" I looked at the impassive vampire.

"Yes?"

"Is Roxy-chan… Is something bothering Roxy-chan? I do not think I have ever seen her that polite before…"

"Oh…" He stared at the floor. "Miss Roxy was well aware of how worried about this meeting with Miss Clearwater you were so she figured she'd make it easier on you by just being as polite as possible… She was nervous about you being too nervous, that's all."

"That explains the drink…"

"Hm?"

"Was I the only one who noticed that she came back smelling like alcohol?"

"No, no, Kyuu. I did, too. Those two weren't breathing, that's all. It's no wonder they couldn't smell it." Seth said as he kissed my temple.

Michael shuddered then stuck out his tongue to show that the action disgusted him. "Blech! Get a room!"

Seth looked down at him then smirked. "Considering the state that Kyuu's in right now, are you sure you want us to do that?"

Michael looked confused then realization struck him as Seth rubbed my belly again. "For-forget I said anything! You two stay down here where I can keep an eye on you, you stupid perverted dog!"

I chuckled. 'At least everyone else is acting the same. I must admit, Roxy-chan is a creepy when she is polite.' I thought to myself.

The phone rang, then, and Michael ran over to answer it.

"Hello? No, it's Michael… Yeah, she's home… Oh, yeah, it seemed to go well. She said she was going to go keep Sam and Jacob updated… That would be a good idea. When can you…? Alright we'll see you in a little while. Bye." He hung up.

"Who was that, Michael-kun?" I asked, reclining in Seth's lap.

He curled up next to me. "That was Carlisle. He's coming by in a few minutes to give you a check-up."

I looked over at Marcus. "Arayada… (Oh, dear…)"
