Description
By the time I wandered back into Forks, I was dehydrated with thirst. Not dehydrated exactly, I could never get down to that, my body would not allow it. But I was thirty and extremely weak because of it. I tripped, yet again, and fell face down in a mud puddle that had developed because of the rain. I was too weak to move. I did roll over, however, so I could the stars, and let my mind wander for a while longer before I continued to face reality.I felt a wet nose sniffing my face and I wondered how long ago I had shut my eyes from the world. I opened my eyes and stared into those of a giant wolf. I immediately stopped breathing, for fear of attacking my rescuer. I knew how I got when I was thirsty around werewolves. I could tell right away who it was.
"Seth-san, not while I am so thirsty… I have a preference for werewolves and I would rather I did not kill you just yet…"
My voice was hoarse and weak… Did it sound tired? I could never be quite sure how I sounded to others. I think he could tell I was actually too weak to do anything hurtful to him. He poked his nose into the pasty mud behind my neck.
"Please, Seth-san…" I begged him, for, even though I was no longer breathing, his scent was still drifting into my nose. Still ignoring me, he grabbed the back of my shirt collar in his teeth and yanked me to my feet. He let go and moved to face me. I was just too thirsty and I realized that earlier I had not tripped. My legs and simply given out, as they were doing now. He was quicker than I was and I fell limply into his shoulder. He whimpered worriedly.
"I just need to lay here for a while, ko ookami-kun." I whispered. His scent was not helping one bit. I knew that if I bit him, even if I could stop myself, the venom from my teeth would still continue to kill him. He growled lightly. It was a good thing I had known a werewolf and therefore had to know how to speak wolf. I sighed.
"I do not know if I can do that…" His large body dropped lower to the ground, forcing me farther on his back; he growled again, a bit more forceful this time. I do not know where I drew my strength from, then, but I did as he ordered and managed to push and pull myself up to straddle his back. A meditative state seemed like the only place I could be, then, so I detached my mind from my body, seeming to be asleep but still hyper-aware of everything around me, and let myself wander along at Seth's pace.
I smelled the house before I felt the warm rush of it. "I know vampires can't sleep, but I think she's passed out or something… Where's the doctor?" I heard Edward speak for Seth. I felt Rosalie shudder with disgust and I smelled Esme approaching. Bella jumped to her feet and Alice and Jasper quickly walked over to help me down. Carlisle entered the room then, carrying a few towels (had he smelled all the mud?) and placed them on the couch. I could almost feel Edward picking at my mind.
"She's awake, Seth. She's just too thirsty; she's meditating right now, mostly to keep from killing you." I felt the wolf take a step back.
"Go clean up, Seth, she'll be here when you get back." Carlisle told him as I was laid on the couch.
I sighed internally and opened my eyes. A few people were staring at me, others were bustling around, and Rosalie was busy flipping through channels on the television. Alice had had it with Rosalie.
"Rose, would you kindly help out!? Go get some water so we can clean her off some!" Alice, once again agitated that she could not see, was actually starting to scare some of the family. Rosalie snorted but made her way to the bathroom.
"This really is not necessary, minna-san. I am completely fine." I managed to get out, pushing myself into a sitting position.
I heard Jasper muttering across the room. "I've never seen eyes that black. It's almost like her irises are growing and making the rest of her eyes black, too."
I was about to open my mouth to, once again, tell everyone to leave me alone when a rush of boiling hot water suddenly poured down over my head.
"There, she's clean. Now she can leave." I suddenly wished I had something to eat, if only to give me enough strength to rip Rosalie's damn head of her shoulders.
I was prepared to pounce anyway, even though I could not really have done anything to her, but I did not have to do anything it seemed. The blonde vampire was suddenly struck by a tan blur and thrown across the room. Seth was standing where she had been moments before and I struggled to get the mud out of my eyes. It did not hurt exactly, but it was quite irritating. Rosalie snarled viciously and Seth growled back. I knew at that moment that Rosalie was not used to having to fight her own battles. Emmett was no where to be found, running errands for her no doubt, and Rosalie was now glancing at a few of the Cullen for aid.
I guess Carlisle had left the room, for he came back in the door a second later, carrying a water bottle filled with blood. He sighed at the scene but did nothing to stop it, perhaps knowing something like this was bound to happen. He handed me the bottle.
"It's animal blood, no worries." He grinned at me and I sipped hopelessly at the meal.
"You stupid dog! You'll pay for that!" Rosalie shouted, breaking the strange silence.
She thought she would have some back-up apparently, for she looked completely shocked when the rest of the coven went and stood behind Seth.
"How dare you!? You would choose this mutt above your own sister!?" She shrieked. Strengthened, I made my move. I ghosted, swiftly but invisibly, behind her. With one hand, I simply grabbed both of hers and pinned them against her spine. With the other, however, I took two of my fingers and stuck them into her mouth, pinning her tongue down, then pulled down so that her jaw was pinned to her neck. There was no way she was interrupting me.
"Let me ask you something, Ro-chan," I used the nickname that she hated. She squirmed and tried to speak, only getting strange moaning sounds past her lips. I was so glad that Jacob was away with Renesmee somewhere.
"What would you do right now if someone insulted your precious Em-kun?" Again, a nickname she hated.
"Would you also feel insulted? Would you expect someone to stand up for you and your lover? Hm? I will tell you what they would do." I nodded towards the Cullen's.
"They would stand by you. Not just because you are family, although that is a part of it. It is because that is the right thing to do. They are doing exactly what you would have them do for yourself. Does this one rule apply only to you and not for someone who actually cares for others? I should hope not, you selfish whelp."
The Cullen's stared at me in shock, especially Bella. It was rare for me to speak so much in such a short amount of time.
"Do what you will to Seth-san, Ro-chan." I released her and she stumbled forward slightly.
"Just remember, I will be watching and I do tend to become pretty dangerous when I am upset." I bared my fangs (I was the only vampire with fangs and pointy ears; I hid my pointy ears well, but i left my fangs out for occasions such as these) as a final warning then spun towards the door. Edward tossed me my bottle of blood.
"Roxy's eating at your house, Kyuu-chan." He stated as if I had asked. I nodded once as a sign of farewell and went off to talk to my friend. She was going to love this.
