I believe this background reflects my evolution through the years. The Winter Base was the first original building I drew for Mega Man X: Unit 49 , and the first version was in very low resolution and it seemed more like a bad drawing. The 2016 version was basically the same design polished and visually impressive, but it still did looked like a drawing due to the visible lineart, and its shading and architecture did not resemble a Mega Man X building, not fitting with the rest of the comic's setting. This is generally how I feel with my work from that time: it's satisfactory in terms of quality, but the aesthetics is not right and I lacked the insight regarding what made stuff be in the style.
This last and definitive iteraction shows my efforts to redesign all my old stuff and put them in the right style, even though I'm not there yet. You can barely see outlines and stuff look metallic and 3D-ish, which resembles more the PSX era backgrounds.
