Thoth, the Egyptian god of wisdom, magic, reason, time, and record-keeping; among other things. The divine scribe, Thoth (originally Djehuty, as well as Jehuti, Tetuti, Tetu) was one of the three most important beings of the Egyptian pantheon, alongside Ra and Ma'at. His power rivaled that of Ra and Osiris, and his duties were many. He was the heart (what the Egyptians believed to be the center of intellect in the human body) and tongue of Ra, serving as his tool in almost every action. He was the facilitator of almost every important divine event in Egyptian mythos, going so far as to be the neutral power between order and chaos in every important sense. Whenever Order or Chaos gained the upper hand, Thoth would balance the scales to ensure no side had a decisive victory.
