I saw the netflix movie the other day and William Dafoe as Ryuk is not the only good thing about it.
In fact I actually thought the movie was pretty good. I went into it with an open mind and give it a 6.5/10!
A lot of people may not like the movie because it doesn't stay true to the anime but I see it differently.
There was no way that they could condense all of the good stuff from the show into a single movie and they didn't try to. They went and did their own thing with the movie and it turned out alright. It's not as good as the show but I doubt the movies ratings would be nearly as bad if the anime didn't exist.
So I recommend the 2017 Netflix Deathnote to any of you who haven't seen it!
