The Battle of the Trident was one of the definitive battles in the War of the Usurper. There, Robert Baratheon's army met that of Rhaegar Targaryen. Robert slew Rhaegar at the ruby ford with his Warhammer and the rubies from Rhaegar's armor fell into the water where soldiers scrambled to collect them. Not long after this, Ned Stark was advised by Robert Baratheon to take over King's Landing but before he could it was sacked by the Lannisters, and then Robert Baratheon became King of the Iron Throne by agreeing to marry Cersei Lannister.
