Choosing his name after one of the most prominent telescopes in humanity’s history of space exploration, Kepler is one of the possibly last generation of humans to be born on Earth that, while still habitable, has simply become perhaps the least appealing planet to live on, as interstellar travel and terraforming of other planets became common.
Kepler made his transition while still on Earth – as views and the transitioning process has become positive (or at least neutral) and commonplace by that time – and pursued studying astro-engineering, in hopes to find an easy way to hitch a ride out of his home planet. He also sports a bionic right arm that serves as a multi-tool for easier fixing, and a myriad of other gadgets and assisting accessories. Upon leaving Earth, Kepler got a tattoo (or carving on his bionic arm) of a rook (corvid), a bird considered a messenger between worlds, as well as the general symbolism of freedom often associated with birds, coining him the nickname “Rook”.
Kepler has been an engineer on multiple ships with diverse crews, but never quite felt at place, or accepted, and had switched multiple crews before joining Bishop
