Running.

I was running. If they caught me my life would be nothing more than a living hell. You see I came from a noble family that lived in the inner wall, wall Sina. The youngest of five children all of which being male and I was the only female it was only a matter of time till my parents wanted to sell me off to the highest bidder. The highest bidder turned out to be nothing more than a man that was three times my age and the most abusive, vile man I'd ever met. So I ran.

The Military Police were notified as soon as it was clear that I was gone, which wasn't long after I ran. The disguise wasn't much but it worked for a short while. I'd disguised myself to look like a male, for once in my life I was happy to be flat chested. I hid my (H/L) (H/C) hair under a cap, swapping a dress for black pants, a white dress shirt and one of my brothers red waist coats. I don't want to go back, I don't want to marry him, I want a life, my own life to make my own decisions. Was it so much to ask for!

I rounded a corner watching the skies, I wasn't paying attention when I slammed into someone a string of apologies left my lips and I tired to get around him, I could hear the sounds of the MP's not far from me. ''What are you doing brat?''

"Don't let them take me back!" I begged, pleading with the stranger that stood in front of me. He stood silent his grey eyes fixed on mine, ''Please''

''Shit''

His hand gripped my wrist and he set off in a sprint taking off down the alleyway, I had issues keeping up with his pace; stumbling every now and again but I refused to stop - I did not want to go back. He dragged me around a corner and pushed me into a dark corner, we were close I could feel his breath on the top of my head. The angry shouting of the MP's was close and I tensed, it was only when the shouting got further away from us did I start to calm down. The stranger backed away giving me space to take in the air that I needed, ''Thank you''

I was like a wounded animal constantly scanning the area for danger, listening out for any sound. ''Who are you?''

''(F-first), my name is (First)'' I watched tentatively, as he scanned my face his eyebrows furrowed slightly, he reached up and pulled the cap off a surprised squeak left my throat. ''No fucking way''

The poster. I forgot about the posters. It was all over, the bounty that was placed for my safe return was something that was hard to resist. ''Don't. Please. Don't take me back, he'll kill me'' I was begging, my life was hanging in this strangers hands, a stranger that I didn't even know the name of. His jaw clenched and he took hold of my upper arm, I pulled away but his gripped stayed. ''Calm down, I'm not taking you to them''

He pulled me along with him taking a moment to place the my cap back on my head, he tucked me close into his side as we made our way through the crowed streets. I was scared and confused, confused to why he didn't hand me over and take the money it what any other person would have done, who is he?

We made our way through a maze of alleyways, dodging and hiding from members of the MP's as we went. In one of the alleyways was a door, he opened it and pushed me inside; taking one last look outside before he shut it. I Stood awkwardly fiddling with the hem of the waistcoat unsure whenever or not to speak. ''My name is Levi, by the way''

Levi, a name to a face. I nodded feeling unsure about being here, I felt like I was intruding in his space. ''You don't have to tell me anything right now, it's been a long day. You can take the bed - '' I opened my mouth to protest, ''I won't take no for an answer, I'll take the couch'' I nodded and sat down on the bed, it sunk with a small squeak of the springs, I toed off my boots and removed my cap pulling out my hair pin to let my hair loose. Levi settled himself on the couch leaning back with his arms under his head, I lied down my back facing the wall so I could watch him, it was a silly thought but I wasn't sure. I wrapped my arms around myself and curled up into a ball before I drifted off into sleep.

I was awoken by someone shaking my shoulder, I jerked awake lifting my head to see Levi standing over me a cup of tea in hand. ''Thank you'' I mumbled as I pulled myself up, running my free hand through my hair. ''So tell me, how did the daughter of one of the most powerful and richest noblemen in Sina end up being chased my the Military Police?''

''My parents were forcing me to marry a man that was three times my age. A man that I didn't love nor would I even would have learned to. He was vile and abusive'' I explained, ''I wanted to be free to make my own decisions but they had other ideas''

''Abusive?'' I nodded taking a sip of my tea, ''I was betrothed to him from the age of ten and was sent to live with him for a trail period I guess you could say. He wouldn't think twice about asserting his dominance - A slap to the face, ruler to the knuckles and his belt if he felt the need''

''He felt that I wasn't obedient enough, sent me off to some school. It was as cliche as you could get it, book on the head and all that. It was awful I spent six years of my life there but I was to marry him when I came of age which was this year. I couldn't take it anymore so I left - I didn't want to be someones wife and be there just to give them an heir, I wanted to choose who I fell in love with not have it imposed on me''

I sniffed and swallowed the lump in my throat, ''Nobles, shitty people if you ask me'' I let out a bitter laugh and sniffed again. Levi moved from the couch and sat in front of me on the bed his feet placed firmly on the ground. He lifted a hand to your cheek wiping away a stray tear with his thumb, ''At least one of the many nobles here actually has her own mind, you should be proud of that''

''Listen, I know we haven't known each other for long but stay with me? I can make sure that the Military police won't lay a hand on you''

''Are you sure?''

''You wouldn't survive out their alone, so what do you say?''

''I'd love too''

It had been years since that moment, I'd grown up a lot over the years I spent will Levi. Instead of training on how to be a good wife, I was training in self defense and I loved every minute of it. Levi and myself had grown considerably close over the years, I loved the raven haired man, the man that saved my life. Our relationship blossomed pretty quickly, it started out innocent a morning kiss that happened from us sharing a bed for warmth the previous night, Levi wasn't good with words and used his actions to describe his feelings.

The Military Police had given up looking for me and so had my family, I learned that the man I was supposed to marry died of a heart attack not long after I left, it gave me a strange sense of comfort knowing that he wouldn't drag another innocent girl into his life. Our morning started off like it always did waking up in a lazy embrace sharing small kisses but something was different this morning just with the way he was looking at me as he hovered above me.

''Levi?''

''(First)''

I smiled and reached up to push the hair back that had fallen into his eyes, my nails scratched at his scalp gently before I came to rest at his undercut brushing against the bristles of hair that remained there. ''Marry me?''

My eyes widened at his sudden confession he saw my reaction and went to back away as if he'd been rejected, ''Yes'' I whispered. ''What?''

''I said yes, you idiot. Of course!'' He brought me into a bone crushing embrace before pulling away to slip the silver band on my finger, ''I love you''

''I love you too'' I whispered before bringing his face to mind for a kiss. Everything in this moment was perfect, I could make my own choice, my own choice to choose who to spend the rest of my life with and that man is Levi. The man that saved my life, the one who protected me, the one who loved me. My own choice - and it was the perfect one.
