Description Recreation of painting by Karlis Vitols [link]

Based off of the abduction of europa, a story about Zeus stealing Europa with a white ox.

In this modern re-imagination the white ox is replaced by the Charging Bull near Wallstreet, which is a symbol of energy, strength, and unpredictability of the stock market. It also a symbol of aggressive financial optimism and prosperity.

The woman represents the glitz and glamor of the high life, as well as the high-end prostitution ring bust in 2011. It was a scandal involving Wallstreet clients who would spend over $10,000 a night binging on cocaine and sex.

Apparently some patrons were offended by the image, I overheard comments like "well that's Vegas for you," or "I'm actually offended by that!" The least those people could have done was ask why I did this piece, what does it mean? Not one person asked about the symbolism. One person did recognize the myth this was based off though! lol

Anyways I had fun doing it, there were also lots of playful comments about the "badonkadonk" haha.

I'll upload a better picture when my friend emails it to me, my camera sucks!
