NickPast grew out of Nickelodeon's previous attempts at airing content appropriate for kids who might be watching the channel after 5pm during the 90s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s. The network began experimenting with its weekday programming by airing anthology programming blocks like one of Nickelodeon's first forays into original programming, was set to release in 2024 specifically for weekday audiences.
