I tried to make mine a floating animation but it seemed to jumpy or too fast no matter what I did, so I left it as it was.
This is cute tho. ^^ Great job!

D'aww, best way to get reference, without annoying a dog by using it's tail, is to get a sleeve and move it the way the tail moves.
Like side to side and such.

I have loads of stuffed toys so sometimes I use those but because the tails aren't as loose as real tails I just use sleeves or trouser legs, whatever is closest. :/
But yeah, it really does help with tail angles and such, you can even move it to the curved angle you want and just take pictures of all the angles so you get it right. Top, side and back, if you want under then you need a glass table. ^^'

wow i have a Β bunch of stuffed animals too but never tried that. I usually just look at references of actual dogs (to help learn how to draw different breeds and make characters look different and less similar) but that would be a good idea for posesΒ

^^ Yeah, well stuffed animals can help but sometimes their tails are over-stuffed to make them look bigger or they are too short to do the whole wag thing, so clothing is the best option.
