Made with JWildfire. My goal was to use the truchet variation to good effect, which contributes to a lot of the 'swirly zigzag' pattern. After render I used the G'MIC-Qt colourize [with colourmap] filter to get it to black and pastel purple, then angoisse anguish and dream smoothing filters, with a few steps of HSV curve editing in the process. I had to repeat dream smoothing twice on 10 iterations to get rid of artifacts from angoisse anguish.
It makes me think of some place underwater and foreign and dangerous. The kind of deep sea where oil expeditions aren't so welcome, maybe there is some kind of aquatic zerg swarm underneath here.
