Started with a fairly typical serpinski spiral in JWildfire, then G'MIC angoisse anguish and 10 iteration dream smoothing. Green to alpha inverse linear map, layer copied and bottom gets a 7 degree radial blur. Then I applied a hue map removing leftover rainbow colours and manually cleaned up some artifacts. Then the G'MIC smooth thin brush and smooth denoise smooth.
The soft pattern effect around the borders is mainly from careful application of the Kill Color Keeper paint.NET filter by pratyush .
