Made with Jwildfire. I split the left-middle circular section to a different layer, used the paint.net Jitter filter, then merged under blend mode. I made some low-opacity patches of the layer above so the original also sinks through.
Mostly a proof of concept of the editing approach, I might use this technique in future. I think the image is "just OK". Even at a high quality the texture of the fractal flame didn't look so great.
