Made with JWildfire. Key variation is msTruchet, which is the white glyph on the centre and sides. The sides are transformed with arcsech2. The background is cut_2ewangtile, with a bit of distortion from butterfly. The animation is over the random style seed, and I also do a sawtooth post-affine for the center. For the sides, there is a post-affine rotation done through the easy movie maker, I was finding it rather dull without a rotation of some kind. Although it is maybe a bit too excessive for 60 frames, I could have done a smaller rotation cycle instead of the full 360 degrees. No post editing.
A friend suggested this prompt after seeing the animation, which I like:
