Description
This is my entry for 's Maya+Lillith Contest.War drums beat and Bonfires blaze the night sky. The war had just begun and already there were many wounded. Since so few medic teams were able to make it to the base camps, Thylios desperately needed help caring for the wounded and wary naga warriors.
Lillith is ready for battle and her blood boils in her veins. She is dressed in her armour and gathers her weaponry. As she readies for war, Thylios quickly grabs her and begs her to help him as he and other medics are overwhelmed caring for the wounded. Lillith refuses since she is not a nurse. Other warriors plead with her to stay since there are more of them than there are medics and nurses. She sighs unwilling and tells Thylios that she'll help him.
There is no time to lose! Thylios quickly has her tend the wounded. Lillith didn't even have time to get out of her battle armour!
She enters a tent. The thick cotton canvas muffles out the war drums and darkens the blinding fires, offering serenity to the war's chaos. In the shadows of the tent she sees an injured green-skinned naga laying on the cot. Lillith has seen him before the other day. He is the leader of a wild tribe. When she first saw him, he looked strong and full of life. Here, lying on a cot, he was the opposite. His masculine frame frail, arm broken, a bruised swollen eye, and bandaged deep lacerations. Such contrast a couple of days fighting can make. His sorry state weakened her warrior spirit.
Lillith has seen much of the war so far and she is a skilled warrior causing much more harm to her opponents than this poor naga had received. However, she is taken aback. Lillith had never seen a fellow naga injured as such.
Thinking that he is unconscious, she lets out the side of her that she rarely lets anyone see. Sadden and trying to not get emotional, she dabs his forehead with a moisten cloth.
The Green Naga lets out a sigh and looks at her with heavy eyes trying to open the one that is almost swollen shut.
Lillith quickly gets a hold of herself. Her cheeks rouged at the embarrassment of being caught trying not to cry.
He asks her in a hoarse whisper, " What's your name?"
"L-L-Lillith," she stammers out. She sniffles and finally shows her brave face that every naga is use to seeing.
The green naga replies to her, "I'm...Maya."
Closing his eyes, Maya turns his head towards his pillows. "Don't worry," He said, "I won't tell anyone."
Lillith slithers towards the door as Maya starts to dose off.
"Stay with me," he tells her.
Lillith comes away from the door. She warily sits by his cot and holds his hand as he rests. Maya smiles in his sleep.
Since this involves the medic village, I'm listing Snapesnogger's picture of the horrors of the Human/Halfbeasts War as a reference: [link]
