Description
Inspired by my dearest friend PatiLee , who drew out the first draft of Eslion's world map. I simply redesigned it to make it fit my vision better! The World of Eslion
Eslion is a world divided into three massive continents, also called Regions. Lonya, Arvensys and Tolma.
The population of Eslion is made up by the Kenomaeras - which is the most commonly found and dominating species, the Makolians and Stringtails, both subspecies of the Kenomaeras.
There is another species which originates from the Fay Woods, and can be found throughout the world - the Faylin.
The world is not very technologically advanced, but it's extremely advanced in terms of magic. Magic charged crystals known as Astralis are used to light the cities at night, to strengthen or replenish up the elementals' powers and for every other kind of use. They're even used as a neverending source of fuel to power machinery, although electricity as a source of power isn't used. Moreover, Electric Motes (Electric Astralis Motes) tend to explode when used, so they're mostly used for weaponry.
That said, the world has a fantasy-esque kind of feel. It is a mixture of medieval and magic-based fantasy. The clothes mostly used are very reminiscent of fantasy and / or late middle age.
The Lonya Continent
The largest of the three, the Lonya Continent extends from the northern to the southern hemisphere of the planet. On the world map, it takes the biggest chunk of the western side.
Lonya is characterized by its numerous lakes and rivers. Being such an extended continent, its biomes are incredibly varied, ranging from an extremely cold tundra at its most northern limits to a tropical forest in its center. Steppes and prairies are common, as well as hilly terrain. The climates are just as varied as the biomes.
Its capital is Lor, found on the eastern shores. Its high walls welcome inhabitants and workers of all species, uncaring of their origins.
Aside from Lor, most other towns are rather small and compact, with honest and hardworking citizens. People here tend to prefer exchanges to the buy-and-sell norm, but that is accepted nonetheless.
Most of the population is made of Time, Space, Sound and Mind elementals. It is also their place of origin.
The main cities are Lor, Colim, Undral, Poran, An'ka and Rava.
The Fay Woods
A large tropical forest situated in the middle of the Lonya continent, and also the home of the Faylin. This forest seems to be constantly shrouded in mist from both sides, and Faylins will only allow pilgrims, runaways and honest folk to cross their forest. All others will be sent out or chased out through illusions.
While the Faylins are secluded and prefer living in the quiet of their forest, some will venture out and seek a different, more adventurous kind of life. It is uncommon, but it can happen.
The Arvensys Continent
The Arvensys is the smallest region but nonetheless a massive continent. Most of it is formed by a cluster of deserts known as the Endless Sandsea. For visitors and foreigners, it's impossible to venture in the desert and come out of it alive.
The rest of the continent is a dry land or mediterranean type of environment. The majority of inhabitants are Earth, Fire and Gravity elementals, but of course the population is well varied. The Arvensys - most probably the Endless Sandsea - is also the place of origin of the Fire and Earth elementals.
The towns are larger and fewer than in the other continents, usually close to the few rivers and lakes of the region. Canyons are the most peculiar sight, and tear the land far and wide. This is the continent with the higher amount of earthquakes and volcanoes.
Because of the harsher kind of life these Kenomaeras have to live, criminality here is more rooted than in the other two Regions, but Hunters work together to also take down criminals and not only monsters. There is a strong sense of belonging among the citizens of the Arvensys, and they consider each other family. However, criminals are often sent out and exiled in the desert, never to return.
The largest city, which I also the capital, is Mira and can be found in the central part of the continent. It's surrounded by the desert all around, making it difficult for foreigners to reach it.
The most important cities are Mira, Al'rea and Novin.
The Tolma Continent
The Tolma is a massive region on the north-western side of the map, and the second largest continent. It is the place of origin of the Ice, Wind and Water elementals.
Its biomes are varied, but mostly include forests, mountain terrains and endless plains. The climate is mostly temperate, with a boreal climate on the northern mountains.
The towns of the continent are generally small. Forest dwelling Kenomaeras have created towns built on top of the trees, to avoid the monsters lurking in the shadows. On the mountains, the inhabitants mainly live in smaller houses with thick walls to prevent the inner warmth from being dispersed. Towns remain still small pretty much all over the continent, with a lot of little villages scattered here and there and the capital, Toleno, found close to the most western coast of the continent.
The most important cities here are Toleno, Komal, Malar, Sunlira and Tralis.
The Forgotten Island
A once populated island which has been completely destroyed by a swarm of monsters. A deranged Fire Kenomaera had set the entire city on fire to destroy the monsters, killing the citizens and engulfing everything in flames.
The city is now a cemetery where no living soul is allowed to go. Spirits of the deceased haunt the place and chase away those who dare to enter their once lively town. Only the bravest and those with the highest hunting rank may go and return alive.
It is considered a damned place.
