Description

Love the angle. Very efficient design but this picture does reinforce the fact that a Motte and Bailey is no match for an Ariel Drone.

I've never seen a motte and bailey with a wet moat before. There are several unusual features for a motte and bailey.

I like the little dock near the Keep. Makes the area take not it likes to stay to themselves as much as possible.

I feel like there's a tiny inconsistency in the direction of the shadows, but those details are priceless.

This is absolutely stunning. The detail is incredible. It's very hard to find art this precise and realistic of historically accurate dwellings like the classic motte-and-bailey that you have here. Bravo, and more please!

It's just an ordinary pond, they don't need to dump sewage in there...

The land looks flat, so there is not much flow to that water. And the way you painted the pond shows that it is more stagnant than fresh. Maybe it does not stink (though all hints from medieval sources make it quite clear that in the absence of sewers they dumped their offal next to their homes and that moats were often used as cesspits), but there must be all kinds of insects that make living next to it uncomfortable. We have just such a pond close to my home, and on hot summer days, when the water has close to human body heat, there is indeed a foul stench of decomposition. Not a place for a house.

Hardly a problem for this castle! The water is purified by snails and clams, and a large colony of bats has made its home in a nearby cave. As for sewage, these guys have dug a really deep hole under the castle, so all the nasty stuff is filtered out by the ground. I also live next to such a pond, and there is no such smell here

Yeah, the basic design was used all over western Europe, but the specific stonework and whatnot was just me trying to make it look good.
