Introducing JACAC
:iconJACAC:
Born in Coimbra, Portugal, ages ago. An architect by trade, I have always worked in photography since I was a boy when people said that my photos were different and I captured the feeling of people. I worked as a professional photographer for a cars magazine and worked the formula 1 championship, rally, moto gp and several other sports, for six years when I was at university learning architecture. After that

What strikes me is your effective use of light. James Stewart championed the non-colorization of black and white films saying the time and effort the lighting crew put in could not be counted in hours. Your efforts are similar: contrast, time of day or night, depth of shot. I trust this strength will only grow.

Well you asked me to comment so I will! Culture has changed so much… when some of my earlier ancestors emigrated to my country it was considered utterly scandalous for a woman or girl to show even a hint of her throat or ankles, and all her hair was tucked away into a braid or bonnet. It’s rather interesting to me that society has progressed, or rather degraded, enough to show and advertise an image like this Calvin Klein poster is showing. It’s meant to be striking, and indeed it is. It draws the eye. I’m surprised to still be shocked by such things because every day I go to High School (secondary school) and I see girls all over the place, almost all of them wearing ridiculously short or revealing clothing. It makes me sad to observe exactly where my culture is going, wondering, ‘What will it be like in a few years when I am an adult?' In 5 years when I’m 20 years old, will I look back and say, ‘Man, those days were awful!’ or will I say ‘Man, we had it good back then’ ?
You mentioned the contrast of attitude in your description, and I think that’s very true. There’s hardly any respect anymore. I want you to know, that in this world of no respect: I respect you, and I respect the work you do.

Somehow I feel as if this was a battle and the older woman won.
(wouldn't it be fun if the model was the older woman in the past? annd she's looking back at what she used to be?)

And in 30 years that Calvin Klein model is going to be that old women, looking at a younger model for more revealing fashions and wondering how we got so inappropriate because she doesn't realize that society is exposed as it is. Tsk tsk.

Faved...great capture...!
My strongest impression is: "Contrast of geometry"...!
but also:
Contrast of tonal range: strong difference in values...
and:
Contrast of colours (If this "turns" to colour):
1: whole picture turns hard blue...old lady is only mellow yellow...
2: picture dark red...old lady light green...
and so on...
So:
Contrast of geometry:
The battlefield is set..All squares...!
the fence in foreground...and the railings in busstop...
the large windows...all marks territory horizontally and vertically...All squares...
and...Now:
"the battle of the triangles"...!
Geometrically the strongest figure...
In the right hand corner:
Young model poses many triangles...strongest the legs...!
a triangle standing on its base...secure...
in the left hand corner:
Old lady only one...legs triangle upturned slightly...unstable...
all is loose loose loose...
Who will win...?!
Easy:
Age outperforms...!
The end...!
Fin.
Greetings Jakob.
