Well first of all NO IT'S NOT PERFECT, NOR DO I CLAIM IT TO BE PERFECT. I mean lol just look at Sherlock ANYWAYSThis isn't supposed to be a step-by-step tutorial, either--if it was, I would've given way more steps. ;n;
I wanted to share a little shape thing that I found while drawing these characters the times that I have. So if it manages to help anybody out just a bit, that's awesome! If it doesn't help at all, that's cool too! I hope it's at least neat to look at.
It's basically just a first-step piece of knowledge that can really help you get out of that sameface gutter--if you're having that problem, that is. Just look for the overall shape of a face, and then when you construct the face around it, you'll find that it's easier to differentiate it as compared to others. And remember, reference photos are your friends! ><
This was good practice. I've never drawn Mrs. Hudson before, though. I think her and Molly take the cake for being the most difficult to draw.
Happy drawing!

Very few people get Mrs. Hudson right, I think, but you really have her - as well as the rest of the cast - spot on! Absolutely lovely style you got there!

augh! D:> Thank you so much! She's really, really hard to draw. I would be lying if I said I knew how to draw her. >< Gotta practice! Thank you, though! <3

Ah, Benedict. What would you be without your Cumberbrows of Death?
Honestly, though, your specific style would make a beautiful graphic-novel version of the series. These are spot-on.

Cool take on faces. It sure does make them less daunting to draw. If anyone wants to read a fantastic write up on the impending season three and future episodes (yes Gatiss leaves the notion of more than just three seasons) follow this link! [link]

Thank you for the article! I've heard all of the information in it from separate sources, though. Darn.

Holy mother of... Keiva, just...just stop giving me a heart attack every time I see your stuff please. D: I am really impressed by how these looks, every single one is just oozing with personality. Really great, I'll definitely reference this in the future. Speaking of which, do you have any particular resources that you go to for inspiration on how to get better? Every time I see a new piece from you you take a huge leap towards the better.

aaaaa ;n; I don't want my art to hurt you, noc. gee whiz. thank you so much, though. bah, you always give such wonderful comments.
I um. Hm. I get inspiration from a whole lot of things, a lot of the time its got something to do with anatomy books (not necessarily artist anatomy books--the scientific ones that have the really detailed drawings of everything that are supposed to work like textbooks but are just glorious and tell you things that art anatomy books never would), and lately I've been spending the better part of my time looking at photos (vintage and new) of people in classy outfits. Seeing nice clothes seems to inspire me to draw stuff.
But really, I dunno. Inspiration comes from so many different places for me, and I learn stuff from my friends sometimes, too (hell, Chima taught me how to draw dreadlocks!). I don't think I could really sum it up all in one place ;u;
You always get so much better whenever I see your work, too, you know! Thank you, thank you for the compliment. I try my best. ;u; Makes me feel like I'm not wasting my time.

If you don't want me to get hurt, then stop being so awesome all the goddamn time!
I see. I was mostly intrigued as to what made your style develop the way it did, like if there are any particular kind of artist(s) that you've been looking at. It's grounded in reality but you've put this nice personal style on it that makes it recognizable and enjoyable to watch.
Hee thanks, I try~ I've been hanging out at conceptart.org a lot lately and as harsh as that place is, it really motivates you to want to improve! And you're definitely not wasting your time dear, you've got talent in my eyes. I think illustration could even be a career option for you.
