It's quite surprising that it's taken me this long to airbrush one of the biggest and baddest villains in cinematic history, but here he is! I really had a lot of fun with this one, and it challenged me in a way I had never predicted -- symmetry. It's not easy to get away with mistakes when his helmet is perfectly smooth and symmetrical.
The stars in the background were also a happy accident -- I was editing down my image in photoshop, removing the dust particles that show up when I photograph my art, and there was a cluster of them in the background. I took one look at them and thought "you know what....stars would look really badass." And so I added stars!
It really kicks up the image a lot, and makes it far more interesting than just Vader in front of a black background.

This took me 3 hours, and is done on a 16"x20" black suede illustration board.
I used an Iwata Eclipse airbrush, Wicked Airbrush Paints, and black and white charcoal.
