I finally watched all 8 episodes of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off on Netflix and they are... awesome! It's the best Netflix anime series I've ever watched along with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners! I'm glad that it stays faithful to the graphic novels, just like the 2010 live-action film called Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. And yeah, the cast from the same film came back to reprise their roles (except for Shota and Keita Saito, because they did not come back to reprise their roles for the Katayanagi Twins, instead, the Katayanagi Twins are now voiced by Julian Cihi), such as Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Kieran Culkin (Macaulay's brother) as Wallace Wells, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Allison Pill as Kim Pine, Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, Anna Kendrick (the voice of Poppy from the Trolls franchise) as Stacey Pilgrim (Scott's sister), Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Chris Evans (who played Johnny Storm/Human Torch from the Storyverse Fantastic Four duology and Steve Rogers/Captain America in the MCU and voiced Casey Jones from TMNT (2007) and Buzz Lightyear from the 2022 Buzz Lightyear origin story spin-off film called Lightyear) as Lucas Lee, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Mae Whitman (the voice of Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender, April O'Neil from the 2012 TMNT show, Amity Blight from The Owl House, and Annie from Skull Island) as Roxie Richter, Brandon Routh (who played Superman from Superman Returns) as Todd Ingram, and Jason Schwartzman (who voiced Ash from Fantastic Mr. Fox, Jesper Johansen from Klaus, and Dr. Jonathan Ohnn/The Spot from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) as Gideon Graves/Gordon Goose. So yeah. And you know what's awesome? I just realized that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are in this show, making cameo appearances as the movie studio's security guards from episodes 4 and 8. So yeah, they are the ones who appear in films directed by Edgar Wright, like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End (although I haven't watched those three yet). And they're also the voices of two Ice Age characters, which are Buck the weasel and Flynn (the elephant seal from Ice Age: Continental Drift). So yeah. And the animation looks amazing, because it was made by Japanese animation studio Science Saru. Overall, it's now considered one of my favorite Netflix shows along with She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, The Cuphead Show, Sonic Prime, and BoJack Horseman. So yeah. If you have or haven't read the graphic novels and if you have watched the 2010 live-action film (like I do), then you gotta love this series.
