tried some new techniques in this one:did the base colors in PS (per usual). when i finished the flats, i flattened each standalone layer according to its corresponding area. then, i took it into Painter and blended the hell outta it.
lastly, i took out some of the sharpness of it by flattening all layers, copy, paste on top, set to 30% opacity and gaussian blurred it up the wazoo. i kinda like the "steamy" look it gives off.
well... this makes 11 out of 12. i guess i'll have to put up a preview of the December Special Group pic soon.

Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2 and Corel Painter 9.
Not to mention my trusty 12"x12" Wacom Intous digital tablet!
In the very basic sense:
i use PS (photoshop) to affect the layers directly. it's versatility is amazing and you can do just about anything!
i use Painter to get the "painterly" effect, digitally. It's freakin awesome cause it simluates oils, acyrilics, watercolors, pencils, pens, brushes, airbrushs, blenders... everything!! it's like an art studio sans the mess.
My tablet brings out the real genius of these proggies. some ppl can do it with just a mouse... not me! best investment i ever made!! it's got a wireless pen and 512 points of pressure!!
