Description
Well this was my second sketch for the day. I was trying to think of a larger ship that would fit into the same aesthetic as those two fighters but it looks like a moncal cruiser and a gr-75 had a baby. It's meant to be more of a medium frigate than some oversize beast of a warship, a concept which I'm honeslty not too much of a fan of. Small ship, probably in the 400m mark. Large ships take too many resources to build and too many crew-members to crew. Slow, but tanky and absurd amount of firepower for its size. Most of the turrets can focus fire down the front and theres no real blind spots. The four largest turrets cover the top, bottom, and each side so there's nowhere to hide! Plus, wolf-pack tactics can work wonders against huge beastly warships.
It partially midigates the star wars exposed bridge problem by putting it on the 'underside'. Not the best visibility, but thats what sensors are for. Maybe that's not even the bridge, just a gunnery station for the huge cannon...
Basically with one humongous cannon, three large quad gun turrets and 21 small turrets. Theres even a small hangar to put some of them fighters I drew in. Probably just a single squad though. The obvious balance, other than speed is that the huge cannon would have to be slow firing or have a recharge of some sort.
Back of the envelope says this thing would need (conservatively) a crew of about 100, accounting for shifts where necessary, and pilots. A lot less if you don't need gunners on every single turret.
It seems these ships I'm creating are awfully star wars, or at least inspired by such. That would be an interesting side project, to develop my own fanon faction and all the vehicles and ships. Though it's not what I intend to focus all my time on. I'm just kind of drawing ships that are interesting to me; that I would want to use or take command of.
