My old art-techer always told us "From wholeness to detail" Thats is start the sketch with the big stuff and end with details. Never the other way around. And I totally agree with that. I have seen many students spending like 50 % of the pose-time to perfecting the breasts. When rest of the sketch itself is totally wrong. There is no point spending time on a detail when the perfectly drawn hands is attached to a body witch proportions is alien and the pose is stiff like a flag pole. From wholeness to detail folks!
Dont bother using a rubber, waste of time! Draw a harder line over it insteed (or use a white countertool as I like to do). And if you have read all my tips & tricks you never wont need one.
Dont draw on both sides of the paper (you can se the shadow of the other drawing in the exampel). If you end up with two good drawings on the same paper your stuck in a dilemma.
Listen to Your teachers advise got damn it!
