The character is a 27 y.o. guy from Wisconsin, called Eric Strides. He is a comic-books nerd, coming from a difficult background. He dropped out of college and cut ties with his family when he was 22, and he has been living alone ever since, working at a local fast-food.

He has a good heart and a sharp mind, but he lacks enthusiasm and motivation. He feels stuck, constrained by his own negative emotions, his uncertainty about the future, and a general pessimism about life and society.

Indeed, Eric finds his life rather unfulfilling. He doesn't have any friends, nor romantic relationships. The only thing he enjoys doing in his free time (besides reading comic-books and watching movies) is wandering on the streets with no destination. And his most distinctive trait is that he always does it wearing a hoodie and some kind of Spider Man mask.

He's not a hero, nor a vigilante: he lives in the real world, not in a cinematic universe. He doesn't go around helping others or fighting crime. But he is not a cosplayer either. He doesn't care about attention or entertainment. Going around with the mask is just his way to disconnect from reality and detach from his negative emotions.

"The real mask is the one I wear when people can actually see my face", he replies to those who occasionally ask about his outfit, when they see him walking around.
