Description
You noticed them as soon as you walked in. 1hr before closing. After waiting 90 minutes in line...Your friends told you about the hottest place in town and your tagalong ass couldn't help but say, "Ya, I looove clubs." But apparently not sarcastically enough, because after circling for 20 minutes for city parking and then waiting what felt like 2 years to get let in (your group wasn't nearly feminine nor conjoined enough to get in priority), you've finally made it into a club that seems exactly like the half-empty ones you all walked past to get here.
"But those ones didn't have this scene!", your friend Marco says, the word 'scene' leaving his mouth like a guitar string pulled taut. "This club isn't popular because of the music or drinks or quality of the upholstery. It's because of them." With a flourish, he points you towards the well lit backend of the dance floor, where a row of standards separates the riff raff from what seems to be the socialite elites.
Daily, another one of your crew, chimes in, "I heard Roman Barchetts, Eliza and Eric Hannold, the Burchowski sisters, pretty much everyone famous in the city goes here. It's like the only place they hang out with people like us."
As they describe the "scene", you see a table in the VIP section that seems to be right in the middle of the spotlight. Sitting around it, engaged in 3-4 small conversations between themselves and their entourages are a number of these VIPs. You can tell who is *the* VIP based on how their dressed and how everyone around them is acting towards them, constantly looking back towards them but careful not to interrupt or speak out of turn. There's who you recognize as Jeremy Flats, a R&B singer. He's talking to Eric of the previously mentioned Eliza and Eric Hannold, a pair of M/F conjoined twins who have separate waists and legs but share a single pair of shoulders, slightly turned outward away from each other. You see Radden Thease, formerly a renowned American football player who now holds three titles in MMA. Radden turns and walks towards a different table, when you notice them behind her, a pair of conjoined triplets with... is that... cat ears?
Everyone knows about cat people, but most people never get to meet someone with cat ears. You didn't even know there was anybody with them in the city! You've often thought about them though. Are they soft? Do the girls like scratches? Is it weird when people pet them like a cat? I bet they get annoyed when people touch them. Someone told you once that the fur-
"Hey nosey! The bars this way. And the VIPs don't really like it when you stare. A few weeks ago I saw Roman ask the bouncers to kick someone out because they were gawking at the ladies that were back there," Marco snaps you out of your trance.
"Who are they? I haven't seen them around town," you say, gesturing towards the cat triplets.
"Oh, I actually don't know. I thought I saw them being brought through the back entrance earlier, but I didn't realize they had cat ears. How neat!", your third friend Wick mentions.
"If they aren't famous, it's no wonder they got into VIP. Conjoined siblings are always the most popular, let alone cat girls!" Daily adds.
You hang around near the bar with your friends for a while, Marco and Daily go dance like they do, and you and Wick discuss a recent hockey game. You still have the triplets at the back of your mind, but you're trying not to look over there too much, so you stood with your back to the VIP section for a while. Eventually, you look over again and see them.
They're still seated where they were. They're surrounded by energetic people from all the other VIP's entourages and yet they seem quiet and reserved. Occasionally the rightmost girl will respond to someone, but mostly they seem as though they're just whispering between themselves, hands clasped in their lap and their two legs rubbing passively against each other. They're still talking quietly between each other, but also looking out almost nervously outside the VIP sectio- oh shit. The middle sister just caught you staring. Oh damn that's awkward. You look around at almost everything else before making eye contact with Daily who beckons you to come out to the dance floor.
You stand dancing a little bit before you catch your eyes drifting over agai- AH! Two of them are looking at you now. The sisters are sort of staring at you now. The right one still fending off passersby and the middle and left sisters looking at you. They're still whispering, but you can't tell if its about you or not.
You keep dancing nervously, but soon notice the girls get up, politely nod and shake their heads at a few people around them, and make their way towards the dance floor.
Oh my god, they're totally gonna have someone come talk to you aren't they.
You look away and just try paying attention to your friends again. Mick, Daily, and Marco are all doing some dorky slide and laughing together. Around this time of night, Daily and Mick start getting more touchy and about 30% of the time it end up with them going home together. You try moving along to what they're doing but very out of sync with the music. Marco and Mick laugh at you and try to show you how to do the moves. You try to get into the groove and notice Daily staring at you wide-eyed.
"What? You're staring at me like I've got..."
Your words trail off as you realize Daily isn't staring at you, but just past you. You turn to your left and immediately hear a chipper "Hey there!" from a soft, slightly cracked voice of a woman. There, standing just 3.5 feet away from you is one smiling catgirl who just said 'hey', one shy catgirl with her head tilted down but eyes looking shyly up at you, and the third who is slightly blushing and looking feet behind you, but close enough that she can see you out of the corner of her eye.
"I- er- h- welcome," you finally get out.
Welcome? Wtf are you doing man
"My sisters and I just wanted to know if," the right sister looks right at you, "if you wanted to hang out with us?"
Her dark pink eyes pierce yours and her sisters suddenly perk up expectantly.
"You mean, like, over there by all the cool people?"
As you say that, the middle sister looks up in worry and the left sister looks a bit sad.
"Uhhh," righty starts again, "I mean, we can do that if you want." She never loses her bright, excited attitude.
"To be honest, we never really planned on hanging out doing nothing by all the local celebs. We just wanted a fun night out, and we thought you looked really kind and cute."
My cheeks are already pink from the drinks we've been having, but to me they feel 100 degrees but freezing from the blushing I must be doing.
"Ye- I- Errr- Do- Ya!" I finally get out a bit of a yell and a crack in my voice. I hear Daily and Marco snickering at me while Wick stares in amazement. I realize for a moment just how many people around us are looking at us, or.. at least them.
At my response, all the girls' heads snap forward and stare me right in the face. (It's almost intimidating).
The middle and left sisters speak for the first time, half interrupting each other.
"Ooh yay! I'm Chrissy"
"Eeee that's so fun!"
The right sister just laughs at seemingly all three of us.
"Haha they were right, you are funny," she leans their right half forward and nudges me with her elbow, "and you got these two kinda flushed."
I reach out with my left hand, then realize and reach with both hands, then cross my arms so I'm reaching to shake both of the girls' hands.
"Nice to meet you, I'm ______"
"HA! This one's great, I'm Cee", says the talkative right head.
"I'm Chrissy", says the shy left head.
"I'm Christa", says the middle head as her foot bumps into the inside of mine as a sort of handshake.
"Our parents only had 1 name picked out for us, Chris, so they have us all the same name legally and we just have our own nicknames we gave ourselves.", Cee says.
"Cee! TMI girl", Chrissy jumps on her opposite sided sister.
The girls tease and laugh at each other, their body clearly moving under a very coordinated system but definitely shows signs that three women control it.
They take a moment and re-center, eventually all looking at me right in my eyes. Under what seems like an enormous spotlight and half the dance floor looking at me, the girls all say at once,
"Wanna dance with us?"
