Description
When the moon has risen, and the stars are shining bright,
She comes out into the night,
raining down her magic,
upon the obsidian stones below.
First time doing photo manipulation. I smoothed out the hair using smudge tool. Hope that's okay with the model. It probably sucks, so please no flames!

The gesture of the figure is pretty interesting, and your photo manipulation of the hair is also interesting. i especially enjoy how the dress drapes to the bottom. Only gripe is the focal point is all right in the middle I.e the model and all the action is happening in the center of the peice, creating a sort of static connection with the background.

is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Neither it depends what your going for, some people like the disconnect, personally i am more of a fan of the background having a dynamic connection but it's really all prefferance

I'm no expert on photo manipulation, but I think that looks really great. Reality meets fantasy. Great job

hey hey, that would look like an insult to the model. it's just my sucky photo manipulation skills that make her look sucky.

wow, this is really good and it's also your first photo manip, I love the pose and the background, although the image looks a bit blurry D: perhaps with a better quality camera? (...so says the girl that uses her stupid cell phone to take pictures xDD)

this is VERY pretty, good job... especially for a first time!
my only suggestion is to maybe tweak with the bottom of her garment a little. it looks just a bit awkward on the water.

to make it flow into the water kind of? yeah I know what you mean I was thinking of that myself.... well anyways, maybe in the next picture. Thanks for the comment though. Much appreciated!

Good idea, but i think the different parts don't blend together that well. The photograph should be sharper and the stars maybe a bit more colourful and glowing.
But that's just my personal opinion, I'm not very experienced, when it comes to such stuff.

Nope, i already thought it'd come off too harsh, but I'm very glad you can make use of it.
I think the trick in producing perfect photomanipulations is to keep it subtle ... i mean keep the transitions subtle. So that the real elements mix so well with the fantastic stuff, that the viewer doesn't even know where one starts and the other begins.

Good job, but as people says the quality in the pic of the girl is bit poor. I recomend that you donΒ΄t enlarge too much the photographs cause things like that can happen and itΒ΄s almost imposible to improve quality.
So, when youΒ΄re going to make a photomanipulation be sure that pics have a good quality and a good resolution (300 dpi are perfect if youΒ΄re going to print them but if youΒ΄re going to use the pic only to watch in screen 72 dpi are right).
In this one I think that the resolution must be very different in the pics of the girl and the background so that is a problem.
Sometimes, when I have this problem i try to fix it using levels, a little blurring or over and subexposing the shapes and lights areas.
Well, hope it can help you and hope you understand my english >.<

it is very nicely done except that the person is a bit pixelated but other than that top notch job
π: 0 β©: 1
JaJeMalory98 In reply to chunkCHEESE [2008-01-29 12:54:17 +0000 UTC]
yeah about that do you know some way I could maybe sharpen the picture? You see the background is actually way bigger than the girl and I had to enlarge her to fit into it. That's why it's horribly pixelated. Any clues on how to fix this?

JaJeMalory98 In reply to JChalmerH [2008-01-28 15:27:51 +0000 UTC]
ok..... then for the next work.... The image of the girl was much smaller than the background so it came out blurred when I enlarged it. Any suggestions for that?
π: 0 β©: 1
JChalmerH In reply to JaJeMalory98 [2008-01-28 15:41:51 +0000 UTC]
Do it way more detailed, with a lot of pixels... maybe not a great solution, but i can't think of anything else...

JaJeMalory98 In reply to JChalmerH [2008-01-28 15:45:13 +0000 UTC]
uh.... I'm completely clueless about this since it's my first time doing this.... with a lot of pixels... do you mean get a bigger picture?
