Description
A conceptual design for the sea people from the book The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. In the illustrations by Pauline Baynes, they are drawn as completely human looking with feet instead of fish tails who are completely nude except for wearing adornments found on royalty. In the book, Lucy sees them as the merpeople who sang at her and her siblings' coronation back at the end of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, even though those sea people are always illustrated as traditional merfolk. So I thought of maybe giving them a design that strongly suggests that the sea people of VDT are a sort of subspecies or offshoot of the sea people(merfolk) in LWW by giving them fish-like features, and also giving them a more Safe For Work look by giving them scaly bodies like how I tend to design the rest of my merpeople.
