Lord Zedd referring to himself as the Emperor of Evil, is the true leader of the Evil Space Aliens and one of the main antagonists of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, one of the two secondary antagonists of Power Rangers Zeo, and the main antagonist of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury.

Lord Zedd was also adapted into the alternative canon BOOM! Studios comics in which in his past, was once Zophram as the Gold Guardian and Supreme Guardian I, a member of the Guardians of Eltar, the former Guardian of Eltar and Zartus' and Zordon's mentor, corrupted by the power. Choosing this dark path, he changed his name and tried to get the Zeo Crystal, which deformed his skin into a more fleshy and zombie-like state. Zedd later conquered various planets across the universe before moving on to Zordon and Eltar and later becoming the Z Ranger.

During the events of Power Rangers in Space, he is a minor antagonist and a member of the United Alliance of Evil lead by Dark Specter. Due to Zordon's sacrifice, he later became purified by the Z Wave energy, becoming human.

Years later, Lord Zedd returned in Power Rangers Dino Fury, resurrected by the necromancer Reaghoul. He became the secondary antagonists of the first and second season, created his new forces with a group of generals led by him, and temporarily allied himself with the Void Family. At the end of Dino Fury, Lord Zedd became imprisoned in crystal and fell into the custody of the Morphin Masters. However six months later, he managed to escape with the Dino Fury Rangers in pursuit.
