Drawn in between commissions as a warm up, and to test some color palettes.

This is me, trying to be Terrence Malick. For those of you who don't know of him and his work, he likes very long shots and insert scenes of things that have nothing to do with what the movie is about...or maybe they do. Bottom line, he is kind of a pretentious director with kind of a polemic view of cinema that not everybody shares, and he has as many detractors as he has supporters. I count myself amongst his supporters, but I can see how some people don't like his cinematic style.

I digress. I drew this while incredibly sleep deprived, after not sleeping for twenty four hours, and as I looked at the morning sky through my window. I've been wanting to do a series of pictures where the focus was more on the background than on the character, done quickly (this took like, twenty minutes or so) and kind of trying to provide them with an atmosphere. It's so stupidly pretentious, it's been forever since I've done one of these things, feels like going back to art school. If the response is positive I'll do more, it's proven to be a good exercise before getting to work on another picture.
