Explanation:

Made something for my favorite moment in Comet In Moominland! At this point in the story the group has already faced all kinds of crazy, progressively more life threatening situations as they try to reach home before the Comet hits the earth, and throughout it all Snufkin has remained the most calm, carefree, and rational. He’s usually responsible for the quick thinking to get them out of each situation and also for keeping everyone’s spirits up with his wacky stories!! But then they reach where the sea should have been only to find that it’s been dried up completely. Seeing the ocean just gone after everything turns out to be Snufkin’s breaking point. He loves the sea and everything it represents to him (freedom, adventure, peace, wonder, basically his life philosophy personified). and while he was able to weather everything else the Comet threw at them, he can’t seem to bare this. He surprises everyone when he bursts into tears. The group’s moral support character/field guide falling apart super highlights exactly how dire the situation/threat of the Comet has become, and how not one soul will be left unaffected by its impact. I love Tove Jansson, and her books are truly beautiful!

The book reads: "The Snork took out his exercise book, and added something to the list headed: ‘Risks encountered during Approach of Comet,’ but Snufkin sat down with his head in his hands and wailed: ‘Oh, dear, oh, dear, the beautiful sea quite gone. No more sailing, no more swimming, no more fishing. No great storms, no transparent ice and no gleaming black water reflecting the stars. Finished, lost, gone!’ And he put his head on his knees and cried as if his heart would break. ‘But Snuff,’ said Moomintroll reproachfully, ‘you have always been so happy-go-lucky. It’s dreadful to see you despairing like this.’ ‘I know,’ said Snufkin. ‘But I’ve always loved the sea more than anything else. This is so sad.’ "

Why hasn't anyone commented on this? This is beautiful animatics, so smooth and the scene is heartwrenching as it is and even more so if you know the characters. 😭
This is going straight into my favourites.
