Description I am that which is. I am all that is, that was, and will be. No mortal man has lifted my veil. He is of himself alone, and it is to this aloneness that all things owe their being.
-- Egyptian motto attributed to Isis

I think this is why traditionally mystics were hermits. It doesn't pay the bills but feeds the soul. And the mainstream psychiatric industry has pharmaceutical companies hand up it's arse. No doubt they would have declared Blake insane.

Is they any environment or landscape you feel particular connected to? From the Egyptian desert to the Tundra.

I can imagine.. becoming a mushroom its harmonious symbiotic relationship with a tree, its fruiting bodies for all to see, but the real being hidden beneath the ground. Your conscious being stretched and pushed into another shape. The great fear at some moments you may experience. Thinking will I always be this way. Forces and experiences undreamed of.

On peaceful nights you can cast your mind back, remember, relive, learn and explore more. Maybe it is the eco of the voice that speaks the clearest

There are many greats who would probably be declared insane by todays standards...

I feel very connected to forests, hills and bodies of water. I find being by the sea particularly invigorating. I lived by the sea for a few months and loved it. I'd like to live by the sea again.

Its an interplay, becoming another. A union (which seems something we do all the time but don't realise). How far you let yourself go depends what you're doing. Visualisation is very helpful. I would recommend getting a pot plant, caring for it and developing a bond with it, and then try visualising yourself into it, intermingling. It works best with consent and conection. The first time I became a tree was with a tree I had been going to for peace when I was feeling bad for a couple of years. It was my hiding place and I considered it a friend. It let me in more and more as time went on

Thank you for sharing your experience. I also have always had such a tree, hugging trees is very good! I am very interested in biodynamic horticulture and have spent times on a few different biodynamic farms, learning about there preperations and such things. I love to see the shadows of clouds roll over hills, or to look at them from a distance noticing the different hues and colors of the plants that from a rich tapestry. They all seem to flow and speak, but I never understand. I think nature wants to be understood.. wants us to experience and unite with her in such ways. I like to carve, and I really feel wood wants to be carved..

What type of tree? You may not live near that tree now, but it could be useful to go back and take a seed from it. Grow the tree within a pot for a while, then plant it outside when the time feels right. Or even making something from the leafs of the tree or branch and always keeping it close to you.

I love herbs and when I gather I always say "thank you friend" or "thank you brother" they are more than just friends, they feed and sustain us. Give us air and life.

"I am she that

the Elements, the initiall progeny of worlds, chiefe of powers divine,
Queene of heaven! the principall of the Gods celestiall, the light of

Diana: the Sicilians Proserpina: the Eleusians, Ceres: some Juno, other

Wonderful, wonderful. It certainly gives me that dream-like, between-worlds feeling.

I love the serenity on her face combined with the open third eye. What does the third eye symbolize?
Very beautiful. I like the highlighted roots and how her figure moves into them.

Thank you very much

The third eye symbolises a lot of things to do with how one percieves 'reality'. Difficult to express in words, hence the painting

I guess I'm trying to express the perception of dream-like qualities and a melding of monistic and pluralistic perception in non-linear time. An altered state of consciousness that enhances and redefines the way in which one can look at reality.

Hope that answers your question

Cheers

I didn't mean for her to be quite so skinny, but it was how the painting seemed to want to go...

Nice, that's really cool. That's a great quote too, thanks for sharing it.

I'm surprised by how little attention your work has gotten.

There's some really interesting stuff in your faves, too.

JaniceDuke In reply to axcho [2007-03-27 15:53:46 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much

There are a lot of really tallented artists on DA so it doesn't suprise me my work recieves little attention. My stuff pales in comparison to a lot of the work I see on here (as you can see from my faves ).

It's here for my friends to look at and anyone else who happens to stumble on it, other than that I have no illusions of a lot of people taking much notice

You're welcome. I suppose that's a good attitude to have - and of course not all famous artists enjoy their fame.
