Not knowing about what was up to date or up to standards in this galaxy far far away when I first started watching the Star Wars movies I only learned a few years ago that the Millennium Falcon was in fact 60 years old at this point when Luke sees it for the first time. Still he with age being a factor in his judgement he could have considered it a classic.
