Perhaps it's because I was missing my alligators and tropical climate back home in Florida (I just painted this one while visiting my folks up in the Midwest) - but I really wanted to paint a mermaid with a baby alligator. I like to think of mermaids as living in all sorts of bodies of water - not just the ocean, but streams, lakes, ponds - maybe even the Everglades!*Public Service Announcement: - mermaids are MAGICAL CREATURES. You humans are best off staying the hell away from alligators! My own original acrylic painting.
