High Gothic style icon painting of one of my favourite subjects! Lots of medieval/gothic iconography - Saint George has a golden halo, and holds his flag featuring his standard. Princess is Princess Sabra, who is the princess he saves from the dragon as told in the ancient "Golden Legend." And as per usual - the poor little dragon doesn't look like he was going to hurt anyone! The original piece featured a gothic arch diptych frame by my husband Matt (it was two paintings in one - a diptych) - the print/poster version has been cropped down to a perfect rectangle featuring both.
