Heh...I can relate to that. I took flight training (helicopters) back in 1990 and never did find work as a pilot. I have a little piece of paper in my wallet that represents almost $35k which has never earned me a dime. Not that I'm complaining, of course....I couldn't be happier doing anything else, but it's kind of a bummer when you can't make a living doing what you've trained to do.

OH yeah. When I lived in the city, I was paying $1500/month for rent. Automotive gas is around $5/gallon, and that's after a huge price drop....last summer it was more like $7

Yep....when I left Victoria to re-join the Coast Guard, I was making around $5k/month and I was chronically short of cash
Of course, now that I don't have to pay for rent or heat or car fuel/insurance and stuff, I'm quite a bit better off even though my salary is considerably more modest.
