“A...demonstration?” said Jo, somewhat confused. “How exactly is that supposed to work?”

“Simple,” replied Heather. She walked over to an intercom, and depressed the button. “Jessica, would you do me a favor and come down here, please?”

It slowly dawned on Jo what Heather planned to do. “You aren’t actually going to put her in there with that horrible thing, are you?” she asked.

“You worry too much, Miss Liddel,” Heather responded. “It’s perfectly safe! Look at that guy, he’s completely harmless.” Inside the glass container, N.E.D. was getting restless. He seemed to sense what was coming. “Besides, you’re the one who asked for a demonstration.”

“Actually, I did no such thing,” replied Jo.

Before long, a young woman with ebony-colored skin entered the room. She wore her short black hair in curls, and was dressed just as you would expect a secretary to be dressed, as she was one; as in, she wore a small black miniskirt and a small black dress suit, complete with small black heels and black stockings. Jo noticed that almost everything about this girl was small and black.

“You wanted to see me, Ms. Mazine?” she asked in a quiet voice.

“Yes, hello Jessica,” said Heather, not paying much attention to the girl, focusing her gaze towards one of the guards. “You, could you escort Miss Jessica here into the enclosure?”

“W-what?” said Jessica. “You don’t mean that, do you? You can’t put me in there with that thing!” The guard took her by the arm and began to pull her towards the door.

“Oh, relax,” Heather said. “It’s just for a few minutes. Jo here wanted to see how N.E.D. works.”

“Ms. Mazine, it’s quite alright!” said Jo. “Please, there’s no need to subject this poor thing to--”

“Now don’t you start,” Heather said dismissively. “I do have other projects to work on, though, so let’s make this quick.”

The entire time the three women were talking, N.E.D. had his eyes fixed on Jessica. He seemed to somehow know that she was about to be given to him. As she and the guard approached the door, N.E.D. ran to the other side of the room, waiting to pounce.

Heather seemed to be just as excited as N.E.D. was. She watched intently as Jessica was ushered into the containment cell, and the door was closed behind her. The hapless woman ran to the glass, banging on it with her fists. She was yelling something that was muffled by the glass, but she was no doubt begging to be let out. Jo looked worriedly around while Heather simply stared at the poor girl.

Meanwhile, N.E.D. prowled like a cat stalking a mouse. He slunk around behind Jessica, seeming to revel in her fear before he made his move. In the exact moment Jessica seemed to realize she was trapped with no hope of escape, N.E.D. pounced, taking Jessica to the floor.

Jo shouted and covered her mouth, seeming to think N.E.D. was planning to eat her, or subject her to a different bloody fate. However, no wounds were dealt to Jessica. Instead, after pinning her to the ground, N.E.D. began to gently scratch her sides with his claws. The sounds of muffled laughter could barely be heard through the glass.

“M-Miss Mazine,” asked Jo, “what exactly is it doing to her?”

“I told you,” said Heather. “N.E.D. here is a tickle monster. He doesn’t kill people, he tickles them.”

“I...I was unaware you were being literal…” said Jo.

Meanwhile, N.E.D. had gotten bored of gently scratching his victim’s sides, and moved on to her stomach. Poor Jessica’s face was already flushed red, and tears of both fear and laughter ran down her cheeks. Out from N.E.D.’s mouth rolled a long, thin tongue, which he used to lap up these salty treats.

Jessica tried to fight back against her attacker, but to no avail. In response to this, N.E.D. pinned both of Jessica’s arms to the ground above her head. His feather-tipped tail looped around him and began gently dusting her midriff. Jessica laughed and thrashed some more, but was unable to stop the agonizingly tickly sensations.

“Miss Mazine, shouldn’t we do something?” Jo asked, concerned.

“Like I said, you worry too much,” Heather answered calmly. “We’ll just let her out when N.E.D. gets bored.”

“And, how long should that take?”

“You know, I don’t actually know,” she said. “Testing so far shows that he can tickle someone for days on end. Maybe we should let her out early.”

Jessica’s legs were unsecured by the beast, so she tried to kick him to get him off of her. N.E.D. was undeterred by this, though he did growl in annoyance. His attention was now turned to her legs. In a single movement, he flipped Jessica over onto her belly. He sat himself down on her legs, and tore off her high heels with his teeth. From there, he went to town.

“Aren’t you going to do something about this?” said Jo.

“Just a minute,” said Heather. “I want to see where this goes.

N.E.D. was now scraping the soles of Jessica’s feet with his claws, while she futilely pounded on the floor with her hands. Her face had become completely covered by a blush now, more and more tears rolling to the ground. The tickle monster was also lightly feathering Jessica’s sensitive upper body with his tail.

N.E.D.’s unblinking eyes were fixated on Jessica’s soles. He tilted his head to the side, seeming to contemplate something, before he leaned in to lick the poor girl’s feet. His tongue slid across her soles and in between her toes as Jessica practically screamed with laughter, thrashing even harder than before.

“Wow, I’ve never seen him do that before,” Heather said. “Wonder where he learned that?” She seemed more impressed than she did worried.

It was then that Jo put her foot down. “Heather, we need to stop this right now. Look at her, she’s going insane! We have to do something before he kills her!”

“Alright, alright, sheesh!” Heather said. “I guess that’s enough of a demonstration anyway.” She turned towards some of the guards. “Could one of you get in there and tranq him?”

One of them complied. The door to the container opened, getting only a passing glance from N.E.D., who was continuing to tickle Jessica to hysterics. N.E.D. seemed to take notice, however, when a dart filled with tranquilizer pierced his arm. He stood up, seemingly confused, before falling down instantly.

“Wow, that was quick,” Heather noticed. “Is that some sort of new formula, or something?” The other guard shrugged.

Panting heavily, Jessica shakily got to her feet. The guard walked over, bracing Jessica against him.

“Are you alright, miss?” he asked. Jessica nodded, wiping the tears from her eyes.

Quicker than anyone could blink, N.E.D. shot up. He bolted for the exit, shoving both Jessica and the security guard out of the way.

“He’s making a break for it!” shouted Heather. Jo Screamed. “Secure the area before he gets out!”

One of the technicians present slammed a button down, setting off an alarm. Blast doors in front of N.E.D. began to close, but the creature was too quick, darting underneath them before they were sealed. He shot a single glance back at his former captors, his sinister grinning visage illuminated by the eerie red lights, before disappearing into the depths of the facility.

“M-Miss Mazine,” asked Jo, “should we be worried right now?”

“Worried? What’s to be worried about?” said Heather, sounding quite a bit worried herself. “It’s only a multi-billion dollar asset intent on tickling anyone and everyone it gets its hands on, what’s to be worried about?”
