Description
For my friend who has been awesome to me. I wanted to try and draw his persona which is a zangoose who I've been wanting to draw for awhileΒ and his birthday seemed like the perfect opportunity. This was also an experiment with Coral Painter to try some different tools and styles and I like how it came out.

You really need to learn anatomy on creatures. This is not just "your style" this is getting Zangoose's anatomy wrong. You just drew Aesk with a different head here.

He does not have super thin legs like what you drew and your style should not change that. And the upper part of his torso should not be so thin either and the shoulder joints are not attached where or how they should be. Also his character has a much shorter body than what you drew.
You coloring and linework are getting better but understanding anatomy is something you are very lacking on and seriously need to practice and study.

Hm well as Aesk's artist I can say that no it's not his body (lack of spikes wings etc) but yes they do look similar. Sadly I couldn't really capture Delta's look very well. I just wasn't feeling satisfied with the way he was looking so I kinda drew him the way it felt right for me.
I'll tried the chibi version this time but maybe I'll have more luck with the normal version.
I'm glad I'm improving in line art and coloring.

I wasnt talking about spikes and wings, I was talking about body shape. I say this because one of the most beficial criticisms I was ever given on my own art was I used to draw ALL of my avelequis the same just with different colors/hair/wings/accessories/etc. (Something I have since endeavored to change/correct) It can not have wings and spikes and still be Aesk's exact body and that's exactly what this is. You need to quit drawing by "what feels right". Changing things and improving and learning to draw things more accurately is going to feel wrong at first espescially when you've allowed yourself to just do "what feels right" for so long. (Been there done that, know this from my own experience)
If I sound harsh, I apologize, but I stand by what I have said. I know from my own experience that it's better that someone is willing to say it, than you build an echo chamber of compliments around yourself and never make progress. (Once again, I have been there and done that and am telling you from my own experience.)
Yeah your lineart has gotten smoother and I'd keep practicing that and youve been working out how to color quite well. Digital does offer a lot of freedom of colors, thats part of why I like it so well too.

As long as people are willing to offer the advice on how to improve I'm willing to listen to all criticism.Β It's not harsh I really appreciate the feedback because I know I have things I need to improve on.
It saves me soooooo much money on not having to repeatedly go out and buy every single color marker either. XD I also love creating lighting effects that I can't in traditional.
