So you might have heard that FOX recently ordered a second season of the "Family Guy" spin-off "The Cleveland Show" - before the first season has even premiered. This is sparking a lot of discussion over on the Toon Zone forums, ranging from how long it'll take for this order to come back and bite FOX in the ass to whether or not Cleveland even deserves his own show in the first place. People have talked about how they'd rather see a Quagmire show, or a Brian and Stewie "Road to" series (neither of which I think would work) - but personally, I think if any "Family Guy" character deserves their own show, it's Meg.No, seriously, think about it. The writers hate Meg - it's not even a secret anymore. She gets almost no screen time, and when she does, it's just so other characters can dump on her. She's a completely irrelevant character in the "Family Guy" cast right now. So why not send her off to college or something on a separate show, complete with a new and talented staff of people who do know how to write for teenage girls? Then retain some of the same characters she tends to interact with (Neil Goldman, Connie D'Amico, etc.), keep the pointless and extreme character bashing out of the equation, and actually think up good solid stories. It seems obvious to me - the "Family Guy" writers wouldn't have to write for Meg anymore, the Meg fans would finally see her become a worthwhile character again, and everybody's happy.
It worked for Daria on "Beavis and Butt-Head". I don't see why it wouldn't work here. Mr. Murdoch, you listening?

This should work. Every time I watch Family Guy, I see Peter Griffin and his family dump on Meg even though he is a dumb, fat rat bastard, his wife Lois is a total bitch, his son Chris is a chip off the old block in terms of I.Q. And don't get me started on Brian and Stewie. Any way, I feel for Meg even though everyone on the show treats her like, pardon my french, shit. I think she deserves her own show. That's my opinion. What's yours?

If they even made a show about meg, it would fail miserably because meg is one of the main characters of family guy, so she 'technically' has her own show. And also Seth McFarlane said the reason why meg is treated like crap is because the writers don't know how to write about a teenage girl. He even said he hates how she is treated. Even though he said that, he would never ever make a meg spinoff or any kind of spinoff again[right after the cleveland show]. My point is that meg would never have her spinoff because she is one of the main characters of the show.

It's not that a Family Guy spinoff starring Meg wouldn't work. All it needs is the right writing team. The current Family Guy staff is not that writing team. It doesn't have to be a like a Disney Channel teen sitcom -- even those are BORING after a while. But depending on how it's written, it CAN work.
And yes, it probably would not appeal to a large portion of the Family Guy audience, and the fact that it would star Meg means it would be expected to piggyback on some of Family Guy's success. But spin-offs of long-running serials that are written for different audiences can flourish on their own merits. Just look at Darkwing Duck, Duck Dodgers, Archie's Weird Mysteries, and Daria.

I hate Family Guy, and one of the main reasons for that, is that THEY FUCKING HURT MEG. My fav character!!!
And why is she? Because everyone treat her like shit but she still manages to stay strong. Heck, even Lois hates her by now. She hasn't attempted suicide even. I mean, I've been depressed sometimes when feeling my life sucks but then I remind myself of Meg. I keep telling myself I have a family that loves me, and she don't. Yes, I know she's a fictional character, but she somewhat represents the girls in her situation. Young, suicidal girls should see her as a role model. I do at times. I hate everyone in the show, except Meg.
If she would have an own show, I would sure as hell watch it, hands down.

You got a point, Daria got her own series, Helga Pataki from HEY ARNOLD! was going to get her own series, so I wouldn't find it hard for Meg to finally disown her family.
I mean, I just as sick of her family getting away with abusing her (physically and mentally) as you are, and I RELISH the episodes in which she gets revenge on her family, specifically DIAL MEG FOR MURDER and SEASHELL SEASHORE PARTY.
Fuck Glen Quagmire, that two-faced, hypocritical, obnoxious rapist doesn't deserve anything. And I just think the CLEVELAND SHOW was aterrible idea. It's just like FAMILY GUY, only the main family is black instead of white.

I got your picture description by Read and agree. I've been around for a while, not a 'Family Guy' seen, because it stinks to me, as there is to deal with Meg. Either she appears in an episode and is ripped and angry, or they can not be seen for 22 minutes. I think that's unfair. Nievau-standard has lost the series and is much more stupid.
Meg I am so very sorry, and I would sometimes even the people really wring its neck when I see what is done with Meg always. A series only with her, I would fully support.

Cleveland himself actually hinted to it. The episode Cleveland and Quagmire get chained up in the basement at the end their repeating the channel guide thing. Cleveland states "you know im getting my own spinoff"
then the show ends
