This is all kinds of amazing. I absolutely love the glazed over look in Derpy's eyes. I can't take my eyes off of this piece.
But, why do I imagine bloody pus oozing out of Derpy's eyes when I see this picture?

Those dull eyes are really creeping me out, and the tail seems to defy the depth of the image (maybe you rendered it with too much detail? It seems like this image has a rather narrow depth of field and the should maybe be a little duller and blurrier). Also, the expression is kind of difficult to discern. I can't tell whether she's happy to see me or she's about to try to take a bite out of me. The dull eyes make it a little sinister, but if you're going for a happy expression, the mouth could show it a little more.
On the positive side, the mane and face are beautifully rendered. The blurry tree in the foreground gives it interesting depth. I'm strangely attracted to this piece, for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on.
I just typed all that out and then realized that this is a WIP. Derp. Sorry.
If I was this intrigued by the WIP, I can't wait to see the finished piece! I hope my observations were helpful ones, and I wasn't just telling you things you already know

I like everything but the eyes... There are no solid transitions from her golden irises to the whites, or for that matter, the pupils either. I think that's the factor that is making people get creeped out. If the eyes were a touch better lit, and didn't look so glazed over as to appear milky (she looks like a zombie pony, or a standing dead pony, due to the milky, unclearness of the eyes). To me, that is the ONLY flaw in the image. That factor of unnecessary softness creates an effect that VASTLY shifts the image into darker territory.
Derpy looks quite pretty when she looks dead!

I do bring up the point, because eyes are extraordinarily complex organs, and they do have very strongly defined structures... That is what appears missing due to overly smoothing over the eyes themselves. The pupils are very light, and the whites, almost non existent, having been so faded into the irises. I feel like if the canon eyes, even though they are less detailed, were shopped in place of the eyes in this image, it would COMPLETELY alter the feel of this piece of art.
Personally, I'd love you try that... Change only the eyes, nothing more, just to see how it alters the feel of the image!

I've only seen this image... I'll look at your others though. Just sharing my personal critique on the eyes.
Don't worry, this is amazing art and was faved immediately upon loading the page.
I'm just pointing out that that is solidly the factor that, for me, shifts this image over the edge and into the uncanny valley.

"Quickpaint Pinkie Pie" has very nicely defined eyes. Dark black pupils, iris stands out, whites have a very tight, but nice gradient into the iris. even darkening Derpy's pupils in this image would be favorable. I mention this because the lighter, more grey pupils in this image makes the eyes truly look milky. under the shadows of the trees and her forelocks, I imagine they should be an even darker black, not lighter. Something more like your "AJ" pic I viewed, the one captioned "What did you see, Applejack?". Dark lighting, dark eyes, but still clearly defined enough to look alive.
This image, sorta reminds me of your "This Isn't Hanging Out..." Rainbow Dash pic. Her eyes in that pick give a similar feel to the eyes in this pic. The irises are muted and bleed into a far to grayed out pupil.
So... great work, some amazing images, the eyes are either spectacular, or flat out in the uncanny valley due to looking milky.
Don't be discouraged by my critique. I rarely get into it this hardcore with any pics at all. This is odd for me. It's just that I see AMAZING work, and AMAZING art, and I see Only. One. Possible. Thing. that holds back my enthusiasm for it's greatness!

Holy shit Uncanny Valley. D8 This is creepy. It looks TOO realistic...so the unrealistic qualities stand out. It unnerves me. o_o You remember that movie The Polar Express? ...yeah.
But, the very fact that you were able to pull the Uncanny Valley shows that your art skills are downright f*cking incredible.
