Description
"Koolasuchus was an aquatic temnospondyl estimated to have been around 4 to 5 metres (13 to 16 ft) in length.[5] Its mass has been estimated to be up to 500 kilograms (1,100 lb).[6] Although represented by incomplete material, the skull was likely 65 centimetres (26 in) long.[7] Like other chigutisaurids, it had a wide, rounded head and tabular horns projecting from the backside of the skull.[8] "-Wikipedia
The giant salamander is notorious for being big, dumb, and lazy. It is a menace to pets and children, and sometimes a noteworthy threat to adults. Like a pelican, it can be comically optimistic about what it thinks it can fit in its mouth and very much subscribes to a 'bite-first, ask questions later' mindset. Typically, it lies disguised in bogs or just below the surface of water-courses, waiting statue-like for days on end for motion to register in its beady black eyes. Dozens of the critters may turn river-banks solid black with their oliy dark and mottled bodies, where they squabble and sunbathe. They occupy a position in their world very similar to a reptilian caiman, alligator, or crocodile, but the shape of their jaws means that while they possess a fearsome bite they are ill-suited to tearing chunks off of larger animals. Helpfully unlike crocodillians, they also hibernate for half the year.
