James the Red Engine is the number five engine who lives and works on the island of Sodor and the North Western Railway. He is a good and loyal friend, but he can be very vain and he often likes to show off his red paintwork. He hates it when his splendid red paintwork is scratched, chipped, or gets dirty.The first version of James is James in his original black paintwork and the second version is James in his iconic red paintwork.
