Special thanks to Mark (arum1966) on this one. He helped me get the colors, in the photo, close to the original painting. Harder than you would think on this one.

Yeah, when I first took the picture, it was really blue looking. Mark's a photoshop master. I messed with for ever, and never got it to look right. BTW, Thanks for the fav on this one.

This work needs some serious consideration Jeff, first impressions were wow! i actually know and email with you, the person who actually produced a fantastic piece of work like this. I often feel like.......I wish i was friends with David Hockney or Picasso or Dali or Munch etc But with you its real man, i'm living the dream. I am here and now and you inspire me with work such as this and to know you is the iceing on the cake.
I can devour the biology in this work. And before i even begin to explore this it has effected/affected my senses.
I gotta seriously comment on this tonight.
I know comments like mine don't always go down well with some people here on DA blah blah blah.
But every word is true as i feel.
I gotta get back to you on this. You say this is a major work, i see that, but also feel you have a great deal more to offer us all, and thats exciting, to see and to wait in anticipation, how you move on with your work for the future.

Mmmmm.......Octoplex....Octoblob.......octo..means eight plex as in flex..No not that.....blob as in paint blob.....tenticles.
Question...how can an octopy have ten....ticles, surly octo refers to eight ticles.
Mmm i will have to go away and think a little harder, lots of interesting stuff here.

Wonderful picture Jeff.
Love the complexity of the facial motifs and the colour is persuasively melancholic even if the overall picture appears more dire than sadness. Without knowing you too well Iām guessing you have some very interesting stories to tell.

Did you ever paint with a grisee underpaining?
First work out the forms in b&w and than finnishing with colored glazes?

Yes sir, I have worked with a grisee underpainting many times. There are several in my gallery that were underpainted in b&w acrylics, and colored with transparent oil.

No, I'm not going to color this one. Sometimes I just like the grisaille better. In fact, this happens a lot to me. LOL
