Arachnid male bodies are flat and slightly tapered at the end. Females have very fat, bulbous round bodies and tend to be larger than the males.
If this was a female, she would have a VERY fat, round butt -- and would probably be 2 inches bigger!
Judging by his size and species, I would also conjecture that this guy is very old. Like snakes, spiders shed their skins when they grow. He's seen many skins, no doubt.
He's gorgeous, actually. I respect him, myself.
