HistoryThe NGZR was in need of new goods engines as the elder A1 couldn't handled the heavy trains of ore and sometimes the fast fruit trains so in 1880, the railway went to Byer Peacock and Dubs and company later on with a grand total of 60 engines with two batches 30 and 20 then lastly 10. The class mainly worked out Auckland and some parts of the network because of the large network the class was given a early vanderbilt tenders and as well a rebuild in the 1900 but when the og class were lost to time in the 1930s and weren't reclassified under the new scheme leaving no survivors left.
