Some well-trained flame elves can gain the respect of various magical beings, and possibly form bonds of comapnionship with them.
It takes several years for the bond to evolve and awaken - aiming for a level of trust and familiarity that allows the two to perform with masterful coordination and skill. Flame wielders who have managed to tame and befriend powerful beings are known to be exceptionally capable. By relying on each other, the two can grow stronger, while it's essential for an elemental to select a fire elf with comparable firepower to their own, and not one that's significantly weaker.

Don't judge a fire elemental based on it's size - rumor has it that they can transform and grow larger, and even the small ones can produce massive flames, as hot as magma in volcanos!
